The domestic music market continued its downward spiral in August.
The latest sales figures from the association of Norwegian Record Distributors show that overall music sales fell 10% in August compared to 2006. These figures includes both physical units as well as digital downloads – sales of physical units were down 12% in July while downloads rose 34%.
Sales of singles continued its downward spiral – down 57% in value while sales of music DVDs dipped 25% in value.
So far in 2007, 5,5m physical units have been shifted, resulting in a turnover of NOK 332m. Overall sales so far in 2007 are down 8% compared to last year.
