This soulful, emotional and plain seductive live recording is nothing short of a stunning vocal debut. Solveig Slettahjell has been a key figure on Oslo’s club circuit for years, and has contributed to several noted releases. Still, this is her debut as both a leader slash solo artist and it has secured her a position as somewhat of a critic’s darling. The supportive band mirrors the vocalist’s qualities: they’re young, inspired and very confident. String players from renowned Cikada String Quartet complement the singer and band on carefully chosen tunes. Her rendition of such songs as "My Heart Belongs To Daddy" reveal an approach full of daring and originality.
