Roar Goksøyr (1954) was born in Volda, and was educated as an organist at the Bergen Conservatory of Music during 1976-80. He also studied composition there with Ruth Bakke during 1979-80, and is now an organist and music teacher in Ørsta.
Most of his works are characterized by a repetitive rhythm, such as that found in the music of John Tavener and Arvo Pärt, generally with a faster pulse.
