MIC's Listen to Norway series continues with Kurt Foss and Reidar Bøe's 'Radiofantomene 1'
In the 50s and 60s, Kurt Foss and Reidar Bøe were a veritable media phenomenon in Norway. Under the name Radiofantomene (“the Radio Phantoms”) the two Bergen-based songwriters and performers came up with hit after hit. Landmark hits such as Blåveispiken and Når det blomstrer i Hardanger secured Foss and Bøe a special place in the hearts of the post-war generation. ‘Radiofantomene 1’ represents a unique documentation of 50s and 60s pre-rock popular music in Norway. With charm, humour and an uncanny ability to write ever-lasting melodies, Foss and Bøe secured themselves a position in Norwegian musical history – now eminently documented on this CD.
