The latest sales figures from the Association of Norwegian Record Distributors show that the negative trend on the domestic music market has been somewhat stalled. February saw total sales, including both physical units as well as digital downloads, rising with 19% compared with the previous year. Sales of physical units rose with 20% compared to February 2007 while download sales continued its positive trend with a 15% increase.
Sales of singles were down 34% in value while Music DVDs rose 37% in value compared to 2007.
Total accumulated 2008 sales amount to 1,9m physical units resulting in a turnover of NOK 81m. Downloads accounted for a turnover of NOK 9m in the year’s first two months. Combined sales of both physical and digital products are up 1% in 2008 compared to last year.
