Not surprisingly, the Norwegian phonogram market continues its downward spiral.

A high degree of returned goods have created a setback in the latest sales figures from the Association of Norwegian Record Distributors. The March statistics show that phonogram sales, including both physical as well as digital units, on the domestic market fell with 41% compared to 2007. Sales of physical units were down 51% while digital downloads rose 68%.

2008 sales on the domestic market so far include 2m physical units resulting in a NOK 106m turnover. Digital downloads generated a NOK 14m turnover. Combined physical and digital sales are down 15% so far in 2008 compared to last year.
