Celebrated singer/songwriter Ingrid Olava returns to London for a series of concerts this October.
Preparing for the 2011 UK release of her critically acclaimed album ‘The Guest, celebrated singer/songwriter Ingrid Olava returns to the UK in October with performances at the Royal Festival Hall with The Swell Season and at the Purcell Room supporting Frazey Ford. Olava will also perform at the Ronnie Scott’s jazz club in Soho and at The Slaughtered Lamb electro acoustic club.
From a non-musical family, 6-year-old Ingrid Olava started out playing the piano in her neighbour's basement in Lillehammer. 21 years later her debut album ‘Juliet’s Wishes’ was certified gold in Norway and earned her three Norwegian Grammy nominations.
‘The Guest’, Olava’s recently released second album, has reached #2 on the official Norwegian album charts and #1 on iTunes. ‘The Guest’, produced in collaboration with Ingrid’s regular band Erland Dahlen (drums & percussion) and Jo Berger Myhre (bass and guitar), is characterised by a space and freedom of its arrangements and production. It is a record full of diversity with tracks ranging from the sparse piano accompaniment in ‘Poster Child’ to the big, full-blown swirling string laden belters, as exemplified in her first single ‘Warrior Song’.
