MIC's Listen to Norway series continues with Kjell-Erik Arnesen / Jørgen Larsen's 'Calls'
The title of this record refers to the historic significance of the horn. It was always a means of signalling and communicating matters of great importance. Thus the horn -its special soaring and transparent tone- still has a special, captivating effect on listeners. Many composers have been fascinated with this and have dedicated unique works to the instrument. Some of the greatest are included on this record, Schumann and Strauss among them. Kjell-Erik Arnesen is principal hornist with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and a leading soloist. Pianist Jørgen Larsen is one of Norway’s most acclaimed and sought after pianists with a diverse field of interest.
