Parish: Rica
MIC's Listen to Norway series continues with Parish's 'Rica' album
Parish is a Swedish/Norwegian jazz ensemble that includes a paragon of Scandinavian jazz, Bobo Stenson, along with some of the most accomplished young jazz musicians on the Scandinavian scene. Their 2001 appearance at Oslo jazz festival was recorded and has now been released under the name Rica. The concert was a special one that many of the 400 strong audience have later referred to in panegyric terms. To the benefit of those not present Rica captures the magic of the live concert and thus gives us a top ensemble performing acoustic chamber jazz at its best with a magnificent dynamism and exquisite solo performances.
