The band formerly known as The Beautiful People has changed its name to Sex Beat and is currently negotiating a major US deal.
One of last year’s breakthrough acts at the music industry convention by:Larm in Stavanger last year, The Beautiful People are on the verge of a new era. The band has now changed its name to Sex Beat and is currently putting the finishing touches on the outfit’s debut album.
In addition to the change of name, the youthful quartet which hails from the north-western town Kristiansund is also wrapping up negotiations with US label Vice Records, home of such acts as Bloc Party, The Streets and Norwegian popstress Annie. The band recently signed to the US label following the completion of the outfit’s debut album.
In the non-US territories, Sex Beat have signed to highly acclaimed Norwegian independent label Smalltown Supersound.
In addition to domestic touring and hyped performances at by:Larm 2005, Sex Beat have played key gigs at the Reading, Leeds and Sónar festivals. The band has released two acclaimed EPs to date; ‘Sedated Times’ and ‘The Beautiful People’.
Sex Beat’s debut album is scheduled for release this autumn.
