Last week’s Punkt Festival in Southern Norway went down as a considerable artistic success and the first reviews have now ticked in.
The unique live-remix, trans-cultural Punkt Festival, held in Kristiansand in Southern Norway, went down as a considerable artistic success with a number of genre bending performances by the likes of Jon Hassell, Nils Petter Molvær, (a-ha’s) Magne Furuholmen, Joanna Macgregor, Scanner, Trio Mediæval and Bugge Wesseltoft.
Influential web-site Allaboutjazz.com presents a thorough and highly positive article covering the Kristiansand festival. Writes Allaboutjazz’ John Kelman: “Returning to the town of Kristiansand, Norway is more like a homecoming than a holiday (or work). That’s because, unlike so many other festivals, Punkt is as much about community and relationship as it is music. It’s hard to imagine a festival like Punkt taking place anywhere other than Kristiansand, situated at the southernmost tip of the country, and a strikingly beautiful place under any circumstances… As outstanding as Punkt 06 was, Punkt 07’s line-up is even more diverse, more adventurous.

Ballade.no’s Per Christian Frankplads writes: “What makes Punkt unique is the festival’s live remix concept – a concept so unique that (festival directors) Bang and Honoré can pick and choose performers from the top division.”
