Bente Hemsing: Sole' sprett - salmar, sull og slått (cover)

This release by Hardanger fiddler Bente Hemsing displays the rich folk music traditions of the Valdres area. The album features a diverse set of traditional styles such as dance tunes (springar, reinlender, waltz, halling), listening tunes, hymns and lullabies. Hemsing grew up in a family with strong folk music traditions, and learned to master the Hardanger fiddle through studies with accomplished performers and at University levels in Oslo. Her high level of performance is evident on ‘Sole' sprett’ as she effortlessly plays her way through tunes that are challenging both rhythmically and technically. ‘Sole' sprett’ represents a thorough documentation of the rich folk music traditions of the Valdres area played with vitality and integrity by a strong performer.
