Geir Draugsvoll /Aniara Quartet: Contemporary Works for String Quartet and Accordion (cover)

Swedish string players Aniara Quartet and Norwegian accordionist Geir Draugsvoll team up on ‘Contemporary Works for String Quartet and Accordion’ to perform renditions of pieces penned by Swedish composers Gunnar Valkare, Daniel Nelson, Jörgen Dafgård and Staffan Mossenmark. Dragusvoll is a formidable musician whose immaculate technique is matched with great musicality, and on this CD he receives committed support from the Aniara Quartet. The works span from the tangoesque to dance rhythms and intricate sketches of multi-layered strings and powerful accordion playing. With its expressive and powerful appearance, ‘Contemporary Works…’ represents a step forward for contemporary Scandinavian accordion music.
