Norwegian Gospel Voices: Let’s dance (MTG / Virgin – MTG CD 70055)
Revitalising could be a good description of NGV’s Let’s dance. Drawing on influences from other “black” styles such as hip-hop and R’n B, the Norwegian Gospel Voices and their producers have managed to create a record that breathes fresh life into the gospel scene. With appearances of rappers, guest vocalists, scratch DJs and even a heavy metal guitarist they have indeed mixed together a very eclectic brew. The choir stays true to its roots, but still manages to reinvent itself and spread the gospel.
