Pianist Leif Ove Andsnes signed a long-term contract with record company EMI on Monday. During the upcoming years, Andsnes has agreed to record at least ten new albums.
“It is a fantastic feeling to sign a seven year-contract. Now, I can really start thinking ahead, says Leif Ove Andsnes to Norwegian daily VG.
“It will be everything from Mozart to contemporary music”, says Andsnes.
The career of Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes has attracted considerable interest and excitement since his international debut in the early 1990s. He is now firmly established as one of the most compelling artists on the international concert circuit. So far this fall, his hectic program has brought him all over Europe and the United States with, among others, the London Symphony Orchestra, Oslo Chamber Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Next year’s schedule is already brimful for the busy pianist.
Leif Ove Andsnes records exclusively for EMI Classics, and president of EMI Classics, Peter Alward, cannot praise him enough.
“Just like the wine, he gets better and better every year. During the last years, he has had a constant development”, says Alward to Norwegian Broadcasting Company.
Andsnes is touring in Italy and Spain in December.
