Extensive UK tour with prestigious orchestra for conductor Terje Mikkelsen

Renowned Norwegian conductor Terje Mikkelsen will be touring the UK with the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow Radio in October.

Mikkelsen and the orchestra will visit the Swansea Festival, the Canterbury Festival, Nottingham, Sheffield, Cambridge and Bristol amongst other places, between the 15-31 October.

The well-known and respected conductor has since 1993 regularly been performing with the Tchaikovsky Orchestra of Moscow Radio, and was in 2009 appointed its principal guest conductor.

During this UK tour the orchestra, with soloists Nikolai Demidenko (piano) and Alena Baeva (violin), will perform pieces by Grieg, Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Svendsen, Olsen, Shostakovich and Sibelius.

Terje Mikkelsen was born in Norway in 1957. After studying at the Norwegian State Music Academy and the Sibelius Academy in Finland, he went on to conduct the Ukrainian State Orchestra, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra and the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, with whom he recorded more than 20 CDs and toured around the world. He has also conducted other renowned orchestras such as the Warsaw Philharmonic, Hamburg Radio Orchestra and the Opera Bastille Orchestra.
