Fronted by vital front-woman Agnete M. Kirkevaag, Madder Mortem are poised for an intense live work-out at Popkomm’s ‘Norwegian Metal Night’ on 14 September.
Fronted by vital front-woman Agnete M. Kirkevaag, this turbo-charged five-piece represents something new and unique with their strong female matriarch. Kirkevaag’s characteristic powerful vocal style lends a unique aspect to the hard-hitting outfit’s integral appearance, solidifying the band’s position as vital suppliers of experimental and progressive metal with substance.
The Madder Mortem story goes as far back as 1993 when the band formed as Mystery Tribe. Madder Mortem debuted in 1997 with ‘Mercury’, released on the now defunct Misanthropy Records. In 2000 the band signed to Century Media and released ‘All flesh is grass’ in February 2001 to rave reviews. 2002 saw the release of ‘Deadlands’ which was also met with strong reviews at home and abroad.
Madder Mortem have toured extensively in Europe in 2001 and 2003, supporting such acts as Tristania, Rotting Christ, Vintersorg and Opeth. Madder Mortem have also travelled further, including shows in Mexico.
The band recently announced they’ve signed to Peacevillle records and are set to release their third album, titled ‘Desiderata’ before the end of the year.
