Stein Ove Berg’s “Det jeg skulle ha gitt” is a touching testament of the heritage left by one of the strongest voices to emerge from the 70’s singer/songwriter scene. Berg was one of the strongest songwriters of his generation, and released some of the most lasting albums from the active Norwegian singer/songwriter scene of the seventies. Berg’s career took a down-turn as he endured various personal hardships, but last year saw him revitalised and ready for a come-back with this record. Sadly, Berg passed away before “Det jeg skulle ha gitt” was released. The listener is left with an emotionally rich record that serves as a lasting documentation of the legacy left by a strong voice on the Norwegian singer/songwriter scene.
