One of Norwegian R&B’s up-and-coming voices, Winta receives celebrity assistance on her upcoming debut album: UK trio Sugababes contribute with one of the album’s songs.
Winta’s debut album “First” is scheduled for domestic release on May 24 on daWorks. The album features tracks penned by the artist herself as well as tunes composed by other acts. One of these songs is “The Way U Make Me Feel” which is written by Keischa Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Heidi Range – better known as Sugababes, platinum selling UK girl outfit.
Says Winta to TV2 on the Sugababes contribution to her album: “It’s an upbeat tune with a cool beat. The tune’s rhythm is a bit different than most songs, like my own songs are. The tune’s about travelling a lot – being away from the one you love. I really like the lyrics – they’re full of nice formulations.”
The musical collaboration between Winta and Sugababes was initiated when the UK trio visited Oslo to do studio sessions. Via Winta’s manager, who had previously worked with the girl band, she connected with Sugababes: “They told me they had written a tune and asked me whether if I was interested in using it” says Winta.
Together with her Oslo production team, Winta has been working on her debut album since early 2002. Winta’s latest single, “I want you” and accompanying video now sees frequent rotation on MTV Nordic. Her debut album, “First” hits the domestic market on May 24, a date the promising R&B artist looks forward to: “Finally, it’s my turn, I’ve been waiting a long time for this to happen. I’m very proud of my album, and it’ll be a personal one since I’ve written most of the lyrics myself.”
