A positive trend amid reports of continuously declining sales – July sales of music in Norway were actually up compared to last year.
The latest sales figures from the association of Norwegian Record Distributors show that overall music sales rose 3% in July compared to 2006. These figures includes both physical units as well as digital downloads – sales of physical units were stable in July while downloads rose 88%.
Sales of singles continued its downward spiral – down 63% in value while sales of music DVDs dipped 38% in value.
So far in 2007, 4,8m physical units have been shifted, resulting in a turnover of NOK 301m. Overall sales so far in 2007 are down 8% compared to last year.
